     The Golden Bridle is the name the Flavio e Roberto Bastos Tellechea contest is called. It is the biggest and most popular promotion of the Crioulo breed, and probably the greatest competition of purebred animals with an only stock in Brazil. The 36 available participations for males and the 36 available participations for female breeds that are intending to reach the Golden Bridle are disputed by more than one thousand animals in 51 promoters´ activities held in the Brazilian states of São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul, Participations are guaranteed in all the 9 classifying phases, one of them carried out in Montevideo, Uruguay. The Golden Bridle grand fi nale is disputed in August during the Expointer exposition, when the contesters show the audience the horse’s and the rider’s abilities by presenting in the arena the day-by-day tasks performed in the grassy lands, in addition to a test of dressage, resistance, tameness, and courage, which altogether make up the Crioulo horse’s function capability.
     As a result from the partnership between the Rural Channel TV and the Brazilian Association of Crioulo Horse Breeders (ABCCC), the classifying phases and the fi nale will be broadcasted all over Brazil by channel 35 of NET/SKY, and by parabolic antenna, featuring a nationwide character to the event.
     

 
     Paleteada is a modality originated from the Golden Bridle contest, where the ox is conducted by a couple of Crioulo horses along a track of 140 meters (153 yards).
     Today it has 52 classifying, semi-fi nal, and fi nal phases with more than 2,200 participants along the places it is carried out in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná.

     
 
     The Crioulaço is a (long) Tiro de Laço championship promoted by ABCCC exclusively for Crioulo horses.
     Today it has 57 classifying, semi-fi nal, and fi nal phases with more than 4,000 participants along the places it is carried out in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná.
 
     
 
     Reining is a modality of Western Horsemanship in which the horse undergoes a basic dressage. Among all modalities this is the more technical one. Any horse used to practice other modality needs a specifi c training in Reining to be successful. Controlling a horse is not the same as barely conducting it, but to have a command over its movements. The best controlled horse should be voluntarily conducted with a small or absent resistance, because any movement by its own will may be considered a lack of control.
     ABCCC promotes in October 2005 the fi rst event of the Colt of the Future exclusively for Crioulo horses. This is a traditional modality for other breeds all over the world and this way the Crioulo stock is consolidated in an outstanding
     
 
     The endurance horse ride is a contest with the objective to jointly watch the horse and the rider in a situation where they both endeavor to overcome their own limits as to what regards resistance, velocity, and capability to recover before natural obstacles, sandy grounds, and different distances.
     Like other equestrian sports, the endurance horse ride intends to uphold the rider’s physical integrity and dedicates a very special attention to the health, well-being, and the athletic future of the equine, so that this sport turns out to be a contest where the competitors´ physical demands of both the horse and the rider are required to the utmost limits.
     There are today 4 phases in the endurance horse ride, with more than 200 participants.
 
     
 
     The Resistance March is a championship in which the principal purpose is to show and make known the resistance capability of the Crioulo horse.
     The contest is carried out together with the neighboring Uruguayans, a people who has an inherited tradition in this modality.
     This march is the greatest equine resistance contest in the whole world, for the horses run along 750 km (468 miles), with resting places and vet control. They pass through real sceneries in the gaúcho Southern regions and face adverse situations, like cold, rain, trails, and natural obstacles.
